FACEing makeup instruction/two quick retro looks

A few weeks ago, my good friends (and, incidentally, both amazing photographers) Sherri and April stopped by the shop before heading to a Krewe party. they had amaaaazing hair by Philip Nathaniel Saunders. I was immediately inspired. April was scared initially of the violet lip, but she came around in the end. I strove for a "pin up inspired" feel without being a slave to the look; I hate pin up looks that look like Betty Boop. the goal is to take elements from the genre but still look very pretty, not halloween costume-y. I think these looks would work well for boudoir or even an evening wedding.

Cincinnati makeup artist/Lindsey, married!

These were worth the wait. Tine sent me a teaser mere hours after the wedding and I have been tapping my foot ever since. Lindsey has to be one of my funniest, raunchiest brides ever, and I mean that as a compliment. And at the same time, one of the most thoughtful. she remembered my one year anniversary was a couple days before and brought me flowers.

Lindsey purchased her stunning Pin me Up Couture flower and veil from our studio and gave me free reign with her makeup. a lot of women would not be brave enough for that lip, but what it did to her eyes is something to see. (the shade is OCC lip tar in "Melange", fyi.)

Kelly, my "pin up' bride!

Kelly has to be one of my most stylin' brides ever. I told her I am dying to get a pinup style boudour shoot together with her; her figure and face just cry out for that whole vibe. She adores makeup and is totally fearless when it comes to trying new looks. Her hairpiece and all her bridesmaids' flowers were designed by our very own PinMeUpCouture.

And get a load of those ridiculously hot shoes.

Kelly's vintage glam makeup look was created with two very rich creme shadows; one a rich burgundy, which was layed with a dark steely blue/grey. I used mini faux eyelashes on her bottom lashes for a wide-eyed, "Betty Boop" effect. Her lip was a custom blend of two of my cherished lip tars by OCC; NSFW and uber.

She and all her attendants were airbrushed and they adored it; the lightweight feel and fabulous coverage won them over. Mollie and I rocked all eight of them out and they were a great crew.

I finally got to do a wedding with Studio 3Z. (after blog stalking them for the last year)

Also, if you are looking for a hotel convenient to downtown, Kelly was booked at Spring Hill suites Midtown (which makes me giggle; had no idea Cincinnati HAD a "midtown". First a jumbotron on the square and now this? Watch your back, Manhattan!)

It is actually right at the foot of Eden park and it is gorgeous and their service was great too.

Isn't Julie just stunning? I wish more brides would let me do this bold an eye; she wears it sooo well. I was very touched by her and her husband's journey together and wish them great happiness.

Drew Barrymore= Stunning

Drew's makeup has just been rocking my world since she has been out promoting Grey Gardens. the retro clothes, the pincurls. Methinks I have a girlcrush-as long I don't have to listen to her...

If one of my brides went with this look to the left here i would be doing a happy dance.

Heather

Heather definitely had some of my favorite vendors in the city;

Steph Carson, Matt Pine of Lifetime, Sam Hills, Katie Elfers, Kristen Kloth of Tres Chic.

Heather has a fabulous sense of style and I have had the chance to paint her face several times; at her trial run, at Steph Carson's open house, and for her boudoir session with Tine Hofmann. (I will be sharing a few of those in another post, cropped strategically of course)She loves glamour, lush lashes, old hollywood style-you get the picture.

Sam gave her starlet hair, and he endlessly inspires me. she later deepened her lip to a redder shade after the ceremony; I hope Steph will share those with us too. I am absolutely loving that birdcage veils are popular; the way they frame the face is so flattering and very seductive!

Lindsay

April of Bluebird, you amaze me!

If you are wondering what it is I am doing above, I am trying to match a lipstick to Lindsay's gorgeous flowers! I look soo serious. The wonderful Julie Schmidt was the Uber Organized Coordinator (she even herded me to the house wghen I got a wee bit lost!)

Also rounding out the "dream team" was Matt Pine.

I met Lindsay over a year ago and she has a deliciously wicked sense of humor and some fierce taste. (How about that black crinoline!!!!?) I absolutely adore that lip with her porcelain skin. (Yay; my brides are choosing color on their lips!) You just can't have a wimpy shade on your lips with a birdcage veil; it's all or nothing!

Now which one of those closeups should be my next ad???
